What is Separatism?

Separatism advocates cultural, ethnic, tribal, religious, racial, governmental, or gender isolation from the greater group. Separatism, like secession, is commonly used to allude to complete political separation. Separatists are not just groups demanding greater autonomy. During our history, we have seen many cases of separatism. In this article, we will cover four cases of separatism and its methods of fighting the system. First, let’s look at the Georgian separatists, Separatist movement first started in Georgia when in 1921, the soviet union invaded Georgia. Georgian youth wanted freedom and they protested and fought back, but it was not enough to defeat the Soviet army. Georgian separatism also got back together during the Tbilisi massacre in 1989. During peaceful protests, youth and Georgians demanded independence, because of that soviet military invaded Tbilisi and clashed with protestants, later Georgia will get into the war with Abkhazian separatists and the Russian army which will lead to the separation of the Abkhazian region from the rest of Georgia. I think that Georgian separatists did a great job and made a country free, it was very hard to fight with the soviet union and Russia but we should be thankful that they defeated them, their main weapon was the protests, more and more people engaged in them and peoples voice was leading their way. But we have More examples of separatism, one of the greatest examples is the separatism of Kenya, Kenyans were fighting for their independence from the British empire, eventually, they did. After Kenyan independence, they lost more than gained. After the Mau Mau uprising the civil war broke out, this was a common thing in African countries as they were less developed and couldn’t sustain themselves properly. The conflict was primarily between the Kalenjin and Kikuyu communities with Land ownership cited as one of the key reasons for the conflict. I think that in their case it was too early to start protests and gain independence as they had no chance of sustaining themselves and civil war was the obvious outcome as various rebel groups wouldn’t just cooperate that easily. But on the other hand, they started a new challenge of starting a country from zero. their success formula was strong patriotic sense and strong leaders that led their way to free the country. Another great example of separatism is in India.
India was undoubtedly the most significant of the empire’s regions to Britain. It was managed differently than most other sections of the empire since it was distinct from the rest of the empire. When the British arrived in India in the 1700s, they were not met with sparsely inhabited territories as they were in Australia or North America. India had a large population. It had a sophisticated economy. There were states with governments as sophisticated as Britain’s. As a result, Britain was unable to march in and seize power. British power was established via the use of military force and partnerships with Indian monarchs. Many of these Indians were dissatisfied by the 1880s. The nation was administered by the British Viceroy and his Council. These educated Indians want the opportunity to advance to the highest levels of the civil service. They also desired that India have its government, with men like them serving as MPs. These principles were initially proposed by the Indian National Congress in 1885. They had little influence on British attitudes, though. Many British immigrants in India despised Indians and did not feel they were capable of running their nation. The British government in London supported various attempts to incorporate Indians in the governance of India. They were, however, terrified of upsetting their settlers. the British eventually got enough and gave them independence. I think that they did a great job freeing the country but they couldn’t sustain it to the level that they live in poverty still to this day and many Indians can feed their children, besides that they had a civil war with the Muslim side that is now known as Pakistan, and it left a big mark on their history. if they settled down with the British I think that India would have been more advanced today and richer, because of British colonization British left their mark on Indian culture as they brought tea culture, cricket, and fish n chips. today India is a very poor but big country, besides poverty they have corruption problems in the government. I think that some of the uprisings brought peace and freedom to people but they were full of blood, corruption, and patriotic emotions caused by propaganda that their leaders spread, I think that in some cases uprising was unavoidable but usually it brought more bad than good.
